A FOND BUT SAD FAREWELL
On Sunday 31st January the congregations of St Mark’s and St Saviour’s gathered together for a service to say farewell to Christopher their vicar for over 28 years. The gathering was made up of regulars, those who had both happy and sad memories of services Christopher had taken for their families, and people who had come from far and wide to be there for the occasion. Amongst the congregation were members of the Talbot Village Trust and the Mayor of Bournemouth, Beryl Baxter who worships regularly at St. Mark’s. The total number of people present was an amazing 936 representing just what Christopher’s ministry meant to so many people. Christopher was presented with an album with photos and messages from the congregations, together with a cheque and a plaque has been made which will be placed in the church commemorating Christopher’s service to the parish.
He, and his wife Susan and daughter Elizabeth, will be very much missed but everyone wishes them joy in their new home and for Christopher and Susan a very happy retirement.
